Plan to join us for some tropical fun on Saturday, July 31st at the Kennedy Mine Amphitheater in Jackson for the eighth annual Faces of Amador. The showfeatures local talent and hilarious entertainment based on the old “Gilligan’s Island” sit-coms. Proceeds will benefit Operation Care’s domestic violence and sexual assault programs. Marooned on a tropic isle, the two man crew of the SS Minnow and their passengers stumble upon apirate's treasure chest. When a boatload of traveling entertainers also wash ashore, the fun and games begin! "Gilligan's Island" stars Taylor Fisher as “Gilligan” with Steve Cannon as “Skipper”. Ginger is played by Heather Murdock with Melissa Evans as Mary Ann. Mr. and Mrs. Howell are played by Dick Carter and Barbara Alexander, and the Professor, is played by, of course, Stevens Price! There’s a boatload of talented musicians, singers and dancers including Callee Lanier, Cinnamon Twists, Lynn Forrette, Barry Duncan, Zach Conrardy, Jack McGee, Kathleen Harmon, Candice Jayne, Bonnie Cannon-Brown, the Star Dancers and more. “This year’s show will be better than ever”, says Susan Ross, producer of the event and board member of Operation Care. “We have a brilliant cast with a variety of talents. Under the direction of Monica MacLean, the fearless crew of the SS Minnow and their passengers will have quite a tale to tell”. Operation Care celebrates 30 years of service in Amador County, and this is the eighth annual Faces of Amador, a summer event that fills the amphitheatre to raise funds to assist local victims of domestic violence. “With a hilarious script adapted by Susan Ross and directed by Monica MacLean, our talented cast and performers are sure to provide an entertaining evening for all,” said Linda Zender, President of the Board of Operation Care. “Last year’s event was sold out, so we are encouraging people to buy their tickets early so they won’t miss out on the fun.” Show tickets are $40 per person and include a delicious char- grilled steak sandwich and accompaniments cooked by the mess crew of the Sutter Creek Native Sons of the Golden West, and a glass of wine compliments of Bray Vineyards. PLUS....Operation Care’s board of directors will be raffling a wonderful CASH prize of $1000, and a host of other fabulous prizes such as an “Island” escape donated by board members Melissa Miller and Bruce Platt, two beautiful hand-made quilts; one from Sierra Quilter’s Guild, and one made by the Women of Faith Lutheran Church, and a magnificent nautical gift basket donated by Marie Wiens of Zin deZinez.
